FAQs

What is a giclée print?

Giclée (pronounced jhee-clay ) is the term coined for the latest generation of fine art reproduction. The term means "to spurt" in French and relates to how the giclée printer distributes the ink onto the paper. Giclées are printed with a microscopic-sized dot pattern, allowing virtual continuous tone printing. Using ten different coloured inks, they can capture a range of colours previously unheard of, resulting in the highest quality print achievable.

What is the difference between cotton rag and other papers?

Hannah O'Hagan Art exclusively uses Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl to achieve the highest print quality. Hahnemühle Photo Rag Pearl paper weighs 320 gsm, is made from 100% cotton, and is finished with a unique pearl coating to reduce shine, letting light and shadows stand out and producing the highest print quality.

What is the difference between a "limited-edition" and an "open-edition" print?

Only a small number of limited edition prints are available for purchase. For example, in a 30-print limited edition, only 30 prints will be available. All limited-edition prints are numbered, i.e. 1/30, and signed by Hannah O'Hagan. The exclusive nature of a limited-edition print effectively raises its value. Unlike limited-edition prints, open-edition prints may be endlessly reproduced, so they are sold at a lower price.
