FAQs

What is a giclée print?

Giclée (pronounced jhee-clay ) is the term coined for the latest generation of fine art reproduction. The term means "to spurt" in French and relates to how the giclée printer distributes the ink onto the paper. Giclées are printed with a microscopic-sized dot pattern, allowing virtual continuous tone printing. Using ten different coloured inks, they can capture a range of colours previously unheard of, resulting in the highest quality print achievable.

What is the difference between Hahnemühle and other papers?

Hannah O'Hagan Art exclusively uses Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper to achieve the highest print quality. Hahnemühle is one of the oldest and most traditional paper manufacturers in the world. All Hahnemühle papers have been certified by independent institutes to be highly resistant to ageing and are vegan.

What is the difference between a "limited-edition" and an "open-edition" print?

Only a small number of limited edition prints are available for purchase. For example, in a 30-print limited edition, only 30 prints will be available. All limited-edition prints are numbered, i.e. 1/30, and signed by Hannah O'Hagan. The exclusive nature of a limited-edition print effectively raises its value. Unlike limited-edition prints, open-edition prints may be endlessly reproduced, so they are sold at a lower price.
